Hi guys,
I will be 20 soon, want to buy my own car and insure it (wow).

Any idea how to reduce the costs of the insurance? I know about adding my dad/mum to the policy, give me a clue please. I can not afford ~£3000/ year, still studying Image .

HELP PLEASEEEEEE Image

Go on your parents' insurance as a named driver. It's the only way, otherwise you're looking at easily £2000.

Yeah that's what insurance is nowadays. I get it cheaper though, being female and all that.

3k? What the hell are you driving, a stretch?
I paid barely under 1k for my first year for a hatchback.

i paid 1800 first year, 2500 2nd (as insurance went up a lot for everyone) looking at about 1600 for 3rd year. fact is, even with no claims bonus, it's expensive. so you're going to be looking at least £2000

I drive a Ford Ka, named driver on my Mums insurance (With 1 years no claims), with uhh.. Admiral i think, and it's around £600 extra for me on top of what my mum pays for hers. You can't really compare to mine though as we get it cheaper, lads' insurance is sky high 'cause insurance companies think you're all "boy racers".

Because im 17 insurers are quoting me on my Mum's Corsa 1.2 £5000-£10,000 :(

So im paying monthly which is £50 each month as an additional driver :D

However you have to leave a 30 day gap between each month. Thats with Tesco.

There's a company called Marmalade where you can go on your parents insurance and still get no claims bonus!

I had the same problem when I was about to buy my first car. The cheapest way was to buy a new one with a insurance package with full insurance for about 280 GBP a year. Then you'll also have a car that won't break down, fuel efficient and low taxes. I pay 200 GBP a month in loans and 25 in gasoline.

Yeah I think Peugeot do deals like that.. if you buy a brand new car you get 3 years free insurance.
